Companies are dropping their degree requirements, creating new avenues for people without a college degree to pursue challenging, lucrative careers.
A recent analysis by ZipRecruiter found that since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the number of jobs requiring any degree higher than a high school certificate has been steadily declining.
The Bureau of Labour Statistics predicts that by 2030, 60% of new jobs in the economy will be in occupations that don't require a graduate, associate, or bachelor's degree.
Between 2021 and 2023, LinkedIn's data scientists looked at millions of member profiles and job ad descriptions to determine which industries are most likely to offer opportunities for workers without a bachelor's degree.
A "non-bachelor's graduate" is someone who has completed an apprenticeship, obtained an associate's degree, or graduated from high school for the purposes of this report.

According to Andrew Seaman, senior managing editor for jobs and career development at LinkedIn News, "people will hear 'consulting' and immediately picture a job at a big consulting firm, but there are a lot of freelance and contract opportunities where you can use your skills or expertise in a certain area, like sales, for example, to advise a company or client on a specific project." "A bachelor's degree is not required to do that."
Similar to this, says Seaman, more companies are rethinking how they hire for HR positions, putting a greater premium on soft skills like leadership and communication than a candidate's scholastic background.
"There is so much valuable life experience a person can bring to an HR job, and more companies are offering training and certification programmes to fill in any skills gaps," he said.
For instance, at the beginning of the epidemic, we noticed that many people on LinkedIn who were suddenly unable to perform their duties, such as bartenders and employees of the hospitality industry, switched to positions in human resources since they already possessed the interpersonal skills necessary for success in these positions.
